Hide and Seek, Travertine
42" x 20" x 7"
Residential Commission

Hide and Seek is set in a space off the master bath with narrow, double doors opening to the side yard. The requirement was for a quiet, meditative sound from a visually interesting sculpture. The design was constrained by:
-- the closeness of the wall across from the dors
-- hard surfaces which would amplify the sound
-- need for the reflecting pond and sculpture not to overwhelm the space, but to draw the viewer in like a mandala.

The solution was a simple, oval-shaped pool with "Hide and Seek" set slightly off-center and plantings behind.  On the front face, water trickles from natural fissures in the stone, while most of the sound comes from a trough on the back side. With Berghoff Design Group.
